Part One: Volunteer Waiver
By signing this document in person or digitally online or via email link, or pdf, the Signer:
- Has read (or has have read to) the document in its entirety.
- Agrees to all terms, conditions, policies, and rules of conduct as detailed herein.
- Authorizes One Giving Tree to use the Signer’s likeness for pictures and videos to be used on social media and websites managed by One Giving Tree and their third-party vendors.
- Has provided a copy of this document to a legal parent or guardian (if a minor) and obtained that legal parent or guardian’s approval and signature for the minor’s participation as a volunteer with One Giving Tree in adherence to this document.
I acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in activities organized by One Giving Tree, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Gilroy, Santa Clara County, California. I understand that my participation may involve activities related to the preparation and distribution of Christmas tree kits.
In consideration for being permitted to participate in these activities, I agree to assume all risks and hazards incidental to the conduct of the activities and release, absolve, indemnify, and hold harmless One Giving Tree, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, damages, or claims arising out of my participation.
I also grant permission to One Giving Tree to use my likeness in photographs, video recordings, or any other media for promotional purposes, and to keep my personal information (email and cell phone number, home address and phone number as needed) for purposes of contacting me about volunteer and other One Giving Tree activities, updates, and future events and opportunities to volunteer.
I understand that my participation is voluntary, and I have read and understand the terms of this waiver.

Part Two: Policies and Rules of Conduct
1. Safety and Awareness
1.1. Use of Power Tools: Volunteers may be required to use power tools during the creation of Christmas tree kits. All volunteers using power tools must undergo proper training and follow safety guidelines. One Giving Tree will provide necessary safety equipment.
1.2. Weather Awareness: Activities may take place in various weather conditions. Volunteers should dress appropriately and be aware of changing weather conditions. One Giving Tree reserves the right to modify activities based on weather conditions for the safety of all participants.
1.3. Awareness of Surroundings: Volunteers must be aware of their surroundings, the activities of other volunteers, and any potential hazards. It is essential to exercise caution and report any safety concerns to the designated supervisor.
2. Family-Friendly Environment
2.1. Respect and Inclusion: One Giving Tree prioritizes maintaining a family-friendly environment that respects individuals of all ages, faiths, and ethnicities. Volunteers are expected to treat each other with kindness, respect, and inclusivity.
2.2. Assistance and Collaboration: Experienced volunteers may at times offer assistance to new volunteers, helping them learn processes and tasks. Volunteers are encouraged to collaborate and seek help when needed.
2.3. Alcohol and Drug Free Environment: One Giving Tree “Tree days” are Zero Tolerance drug and alcohol-free workdays. One Giving Tree reserves the right to ask volunteers suspected of being under the influence of any drugs or alcohol to leave the premises immediately.
2.4 General Behavior and safety: If for any reason One Giving Tree volunteers or managers feel unsafe due to a volunteer’s behavior, One Giving Tree will not hesitate to engage the emergency services local authorities to help resolve the situation.
3. Task Competency
3.1. Training Requirement: Volunteers should only perform tasks they have been adequately trained for. If uncertain about a task, volunteers must seek guidance from a supervisor or more experienced volunteer.
4. Event Participation
4.1. Tree Days: “Tree Days” take place over the first full weekend in December (Saturday and Sunday). Volunteers are expected to commit to the entire duration of the event, including set up and clean up.
4.2. Year-Round Opportunities: Additional volunteer opportunities may arise throughout the year. Volunteers can choose to participate in events that suit their availability.
